Broken Houses


These models of neglected buildings in North Dakota are by Tel Aviv-based artist Ofra Lapid.
Each 3D miniature in the Broken Houses series is made using flat images Lapid sources online from a Dakotan photographer's obsessively amassed archive, before themselves being photographed in studio.
We love them to bits.
Wire Mesh Portraits by Seung Mo Park


Seung Mo Park creates giant ephemeral portraits using layer upon layer of cut up wire mesh - a process that could be the new definition of meticulous. Starting with a photograph, this is superimposed over layers of wire with a projector before slowly subtracting small sections of the mesh.
Its hard to portray just how much effort goes into each piece, so there's a helpful video to give you more of an idea; here

Dutch designer Christian Annyas combined his passion for typography and classic cinema, and created the Movie Stills Title Collection website. It contains 1000s of screen grabs from films dating back to 1920s. It's a must for any type geek.

Russian photographer Andrey Pavlov takes macro photographs of live ants. He spends hours cajoling and posing them to compose his shots. No Photoshopping involved.

Portraits of the Public 2003-2011

Nathan Eldridge had been taking simple (yet powerful) portraits for 8 years. He received a grant and with that he has created a unique book. The pages have been left unbound so it actually feels like a collection of individual portraits. It also means you can frame any that you particularly like.
